    Dear Readers,
We hope you enjoy our latest HixNews issue. As you read Wendy Elkis Girnis' article about Military Nurses,  you will notice she did not include Vietnam nurses or those who served in Iraq or Afghanistan. We hope our readers can supply first-hand accounts of those military heroes. If you were a military nurse or wounded or served in Iraq or Afghanistan, please send us some memories for our November issue. We will publish after Veterans' Day but we would still like to include those memories. Article contributions, suggestions, and news are always welcome. We would love to hear from you, too! Don't hesitate to get in touch with us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

I went to work in the printing business following graduation. Married the first wife and had three children, all girls. The marriage disintegrated and we divorced.

Back in 1982, I met Theresa while out one night in a singles lounge. We dated for five years and eventually were married in 1987. We celebrate 23 years together on the 22nd of November.

I worked for Newsday until my retirement in 2004. It was a great job and I ended my career as a supervisor. Terry and I looked at various communities geared for those 55 and older. We discovered a terrific community in Manorville and now live the country club life. Needless to say, there is very little stress when most everything is taken care of by the community. We have great friends and live near some former classmates.

Terry and I decided this year to buy a house in Florida , Sarasota , and take advantage of the snow birding lifestyle.

All totaled, Terry and I have five children and five grand children.

I enjoy fishing, bowling, playing cards and traveling.

If I had to it all over again, I guess I wouldn't change a thing, Obviously it all worked out for the best!!
